Hypnosis and the Brain Waste Clearance System, the Glymphatic System.

There has been a recent discovery that the brain has it's own cleansing system, which is called the Glymphatic system. Like the Lymphatic system, that cleanses the body, keeps body fluid levels in balance and defends the body against infections, scientists recently (last 10yrs) discovered the brain has it's own similar system. This newly discovered Glymphatic system only opens up and does it's job cleansing the brain from all the toxins and plaque buildup from the day, when we are in deep sleep. When a person is awake the Glymphatic system stays tightly shut. Therefore, sleep especially the deep levels of the sleep cycles, are highly important in keeping our brains healthy. We have always known how important sleep is and why, but this new discovery sheds even another reason why deep levels of sleep are important. If a person does not reach that deeper level of sleep, the brain never gets cleansed and build-up occurs. Scientists are discovering that this could be the cause of several different neurological disorders, including Alzheimers.
While the Glymphatic system is known to be modulated by states like sleep, there is no established scientific research directly linking the activation of the Glymphatic system to the hypnotic state. However, hypnosis can induce brain states similar to those that open the Glymphatic system, such as increased slow-wave activity or reduced noradrenergic tone, which could potentially influence brain waste clearance. Further research would be needed to explore the specific effects of hypnosis on the Glymphatic system, but to me this sure does seem promising. This could also help explain why my clients often say when finishing their hypnotherapy session, "Wow! I feel so relaxed, so cleansed and clear". Did their Glymphatic system just open up during their hypnotherapy session?
I was excited to share this information with you because as we move through our lives, the more informed we are about our own bodies, the better care we can take of them, enabling us to live a longer, healthier and happier life. Of course, this all leads back to hypnosis and all the amazing benefits it has for your brain and body. I would like you to do your own research, and leave comments for me as to what you have found and your thoughts on this incredibly interesting topic.
